Lakeside Country Club was the most perfect Houston venue for Megan and Brian’s wedding reception! The space was beautifully transformed on an even more perfect day in March as these two said I do. Not to mention the weather made it seem like we really weren’t even in Houston! Aside from the perfect weather, Lakeside Country Club was the most gorgeous setting for their photos throughout the evening. Captured beautifully by our friends at Cotton Weddings, this wedding is one of our favorites to date! The couple and their families made the day just absolutely lovely.

Ivory and blue florals brought the already stunning ballroom to life, and we just LOVED the simplicity of the table decor, which allowed the florals to be a big statement throughout the space. See below for some of our favorites from the day!

Megan’s grandmothers house made for an intimate location for the ladies to get ready for the big day. Megan and Brian kept their bridal party to just their siblings, which we thought made it so personal and sweet!

Megan and Kristen, you two are just the sweetest, and oh, so lovely!

Loved Megan’s lacy back detailing on her gorgeous Watters gown

Love it when our couples have this kind of reaction when they see their event space for the first time!

The couple had a live event painter for their wedding day, which Megan gifted to her parents. So sweet!

The speech from her dad had us laughing so hard! And the ones from Megan and Brian’s siblings were so beautiful as well. So sweet to see how much these two are loved.

Dry Water Band KILLED it, and no one wanted to leave the dance floor!

A special thanks to the amazing vendors who helped create a beautiful day for Megan and Brian!

The Farmhouse Events in Montgomery was such a perfect backdrop for our first ever Tabletop Tuesday Design! In this new series of tabletop designs we will be featuring some of our most favorite venues and vendors in town. Starting with The Farmhouse!

Spring tends to be one of our most loved design seasons for weddings and events, and for good reason! The soft colors that compliment springtime always leaves us wanting more. So, for this inspiration we really wanted to focus on all the romantic detailing that you could create at your next wedding or event!

Lovely hues of blush, ivory, and lavender created a dreamy color palette, while accents of gold brought warmth to the tabletop design. We kept most of the surroundings neutral so that the florals could really stand out against the backdrop of the draped window. Clear taper candle holders and crystal glassware made for perfect decor details that photographed beautifully! Can’t thank Dana Fernandez Photography enough for capturing all the details of our tabletop design. See all the loveliness below!

Our Owner Jessica, and Assistant Planner Jen setting up the beautiful details!

Currently OBSESSED with the Bentwood chair and its uniqueness it lends to any event design

These Italian Lace Chargers and Matte Gold Silverware are to-die-for! Not to mention the gold calligraphy menus by Handwritten Jane were the perfect accenting detail to the place setting.

For a little more inspiration, we moved the set up outside and changed the scenery a bit! Loved how the glass doors of The Farmhouse entrance really enhanced the whole vibe of this shoot, giving it a more modern, yet still romantic feel. We opted to showcase the wood farm table and cross back, and upholstered chairs for a little spin on the original design.

We LOVE the use of loose blooms to create a sort of floral runner on the table. Just scatter them around and add some additional petals and greenery for the full effect!

For all you floral lovers out there, we wanted to highlight the beautiful blooms design by Bramble and Bee that the centerpiece was comprised of because it was just SO romantic and stunning!

Thank you to all of our participating vendors!

Katie and Brendan’s wedding at The Bell Tower on 34th this past December was absolutely exquisite! With the vision for a Cali meets Texas celebration, it was no surprise when Katie and Brendan chose The Bell Tower on 34th for their wedding reception to celebrate with their closest friends and family. Due to the Bride being from California, the couple focused their design details to bring wine country to the heart of Texas. They chose a color palette that highlighted the mood of the winter season. Ivory, grey, neutral blush tones, and greenery, with accents of silver throughout the design brought the vision to life.

The Contessa ballroom and courtyard at The Bell Tower on 34th with its creeping fig covered walls, aged wooden doors, brick arched ceilings, and courtyard, instantly felt like California wine country. We came alongside the couple as they planned the details, and helped achieve the overall aesthetic that Katie and Brendan desired. It was natural without feeling rustic, and elegant without feeling opulent, for a relaxed elegant design. Because of this, the end result was nothing short of magical! Cotton Weddings was there to capture all the beautiful moments.

While guests sipped “His” and “Hers” drinks, a Cigar and Whiskey Bar set up completed the cocktail hour decor. In addition, guests were greeted to listen to live acoustics while enjoying the crisp December air.

For favors, it was very important to Katie and Brendan to give their guest something that symbolized their union. Something that was both California and Texas. Their olive oil favors not only accomplished that, but also reflected the bride’s Greek heritage.

As guests entered the reception room, they were greeted by warm candlelight, crystal glassware, and a room filled with beautiful blooms by Maxit Flower Design.

The cake was placed on the Bride’s mothers 25th anniversary silver platter tray, which complimented the already beautiful details on the wedding day.

Katie and Brendan’s had the sweetest bubble grand exit complete with a vintage Rolls Royce which transported them from The Bell Tower on 34th.

Thank you to all of our participating wedding professionals!

This tends to be a BIG item on our list when we pair our new clients with Photographers. Taking the time to educate couples from the get go on how long they should book their photographer for, really allows us to pave the way for success as we get closer to the wedding day. Too many times (mainly with our day of coordination clients) we find that after reviewing their event details, that they have not booked their photographer for as long as they actually need it.

So, we wanted to take a moment to share our insight to booking the right amount of hours with your photographer at the beginning of the booking experience. Here are a few tips we would LOVE to share!:

  1.  If you adore details like we do, be sure to give your photographer plenty of time prior to putting your dress on to photograph your wedding details. We highly recommend 1 1/2-2 hours at minimum to really allow for creativity. This also ensures that they are able to take their time and not feel rushed, which in turn produces a better product for your memories.
  2. If you are doing a grand exit, be sure to have your professional photographer there to capture the finale! Especially, when you are doing something along the lines of fireworks, or riding away in a cool car. At the end of the evening, things are definitely a blur, and these photographs are so much fun to look back on after your wedding day!
  3. If you are getting married at a separate location for your ceremony, most likely in cases of our couples a Church, we recommend at least adding one hour to your package. Most of our couples with separate locations, we have them add an hour because we really dont want the transfer of location to interfere with your photos. So, the best recommendation is to have your photographers start a little bit earlier, so as to not miss any of the important details.
  4. This one is a MUST! Photographers can’t be in two places at once, so always, always, always have a minimum of two photographers. We promise that you will NOT be disappointed in this decision. At the end of the day, your photographs are the only thing you have to look back on. Ensuring that there is additional coverage for those moments will be so beneficial for your and your fiancé.
  5. If you are getting married in the later months of the year when the sun sets early, considering a first look could make or break your wedding photos in terms of lighting. We all know too well the oohs and ahh’s of “golden hour”. This is that time for lighting just before the sun sets where your photos turn out looking like perfection! So, keep this in mind when you are booking as well! If your photographer is a natural light photographer, then booking them for a longer package to include a first look is necessary to achieve this look.

Here is a breakdown of the typical packages that we see photographers offer most often:

6-7 Hour Photography Package

We do not recommend this for a typical wedding day as it is more common for elopements. This package means there is not as much going on for the photographer to capture, which is why a smaller affair seems better suited for a 6 hour package.

A timeline for this package would generally be the photographer arriving an hour before walking down the aisle, briefly through open dance floor, and leaving after all the important events have commenced for the evening such as cake cutting, as well as bouquet and garter toss.

8 Hour Photography Package

This is what I like to consider our “sweet spot” in photography world as a planner. This allows for the photographer to be there briefly while you are getting ready, photograph details, putting on your dress and suit, a first look, and all the other items on the wedding day. More times than not, it will also last all the way up until the grand exit. If you want your photographers to tell a full story of the wedding day, this is the package you will want at minimum.

9-10 Hour Photography Package

As mentioned previously, the 8 hours is a sweet spot, and if your events are in separate locations for ceremony and reception, 9 hours is recommended for a full experience. A 10 hour package is for our clients who want somewhere there with them every step of the way. No moments missed is the motto for a 10 hour package. With this sort of package however, it is rarely booked. Not saying that it isn’t needed, but most couples feel perfectly content with 8-9 hours of service. A 10 hour package is great if you want the photographer to capture a bridal brunch the morning of the wedding, or if you are having an extended reception (where my New Year’s couples at?!)

Final Tip: It is important to realize your expectations when hiring a photographer as far as timing goes. With our couples, photography is usually the most important expense of their wedding day, so we are very mindful of this in the process when not only pairing them with photographers, but also when considering how many hours they are looking for. What type of experience do they want to have on the wedding day when it comes to their photographs and photographer.

We hope that this helps a little in deciding your photography package! Our goal with this post was to share our knowledge of booking photography packages to ensure you are getting the most out of your budget, without having to end up paying for additional coverage closer to the wedding day. The good thing is that you can always add hours to your package. So, if you have already booked your wedding photographer, look at your timeline now so that you can decide if additional hours are necessary. Any questions about photography packages, feel free to reach out to us directly!

Kelsey and Glenn’s Wedding at The Grove Houston, TX was filled with so much love! I can’t help but think that these two were really destined to find each other, and love one another for the rest of their lives. From the very beginning of their love filled day, the only thing that exuded from these two was pure happiness. From their first look, to their first dance as husband and wife, these two couldn’t stop smiling at each other all night! And it was contagious!

We knew this couple was so special from the moment we met Kelsey. Her gorgeous diamond and sapphire ring gave us a glimpse to the classiness that would show apparent in the beautiful design of the wedding. The soft and romantic wedding florals and oh so chic ceremony decor will have you in love with their wedding just as much as we were. See more of their sweet and intimate wedding below.

We LOVED that Kelsey opted for some comfy Ked’s for her wedding day shoes. Not to mention the sweet detailing of the two pennies attached to her shoes which symbolized a prosperous marriage of wealth and good fortune; an old Irish tradition.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This amazing ceremony backdrop from Johanna Terry Events was unreal! We loved how it showed the couples personal style.

The CUTEST cake topper you ever did see!

The couple really wanted to include all of their guests in a group photo and we must say it was AMAZING! Congrats Kelsey and Glenn! Thank you so much for allowing us to share in your special day with you!
